PR1 Trilho do Linho - Vilarinho de São Roque: Pedestrian Trail PR1 Trilho do Linho - Vilarinho de São Roque: Pedestrian Trail
Trilho do Linho (Linho's Trail) is in Vilarinho de São Roque, one of Portugal's Villages. It's a circular trail with 2.5km, it takes approximately 1 hour to finish and it has an easy degree of dificulty. You can walk it any time of the year, but don't forget that in the summer temperatures are usually high and in winter you will probably walk on wet soil, so take all the safeguard measures needed.
The trail starts in Vilarinho's Extreme Sports and Environment Activities Centre (Centro de Atividades Radicais e Ambientais de Vilarinho), in the former primary school, and continues towards the valley, passing by São Roque's Chapel. While walking, you'll have the opportunity to get to know Regadinho's watermills and walk through the old farming dam and Tendal's path, where the linen was grown and prepared.
Vilarinho de São Roque is between the Arestal mount and the Fílveda river and it has its history related to the river, the watermills that grind the linen and the green forests. With its charming places, rural houses, wash-house and Alminhas' (little souls) small stone monuments built alongside the paths, make this a true Portuguese village. It's a land of welcoming and lovely people that every year opens their doors to the Há Festa na Aldeia (There's Festival in the Village) in the 18th and 19th of June, a weekend where it shows the most genuine things it has, with a entertainment program that values local traditions and counts with the active engagement of the population.
The village is located 8km away from Quinta dos Meireles (https://goo.gl/maps/9ktoB4db4wk) and 12km away from Abergaria-a-Velha city centre.
